Hamriyanim - Frau Teig

Habib Bektaş dwells on a tragic story of Fatma, moving from an Aegean village to Germany on business, but wedged in her small world there. Poor and ignorant Fatma takes refuge to Hamriyanım in her lonely life in the world where she is strange to. She shares her loneliness, troubles, happiness, with Hamriyanım, “a doll”; she identifies with. Hamriyanım is rather a symbol denoting tragic dimension of human's loneliness. One day, Fatma falls into love with a German, university student Fritz. In the eye of her there is no importance of deep discrepancy between each. She is in love, which is the cure for everything. Fatma's whole life changes, she has deep attachment for Frits. On the other hand Fritz, having a prejudice against foreigners, experiences his own troubles and depressions. The novel overlaps Hamriyanım, a symbol of loneliness, is narrated in a simple and intimate manner.
